Between the World and Me: When Three Voices Speak As One

Between the World and Me: When Three Voices Speak As One

Poetry is melodic expression of emotion, and that is exactly what Between the World and Me (BTWM) offers poetry lovers. Within these pages, three female poets, Jean Stallings, Diane Martin, and M. Emily have chosen to express themselves in literally one voice. BTWM is analogous to a three part symphony. Part I includes And then She Spoke by new poet, Jean Stallings. Part II Revelations written by Diane Martin, and Part III, Perspectives also introduces new poet M. Emily. Quite without the kind of planning you would expect, the work of these poets reflects the gamut of emotions one typically experiences in relationships.

About the Author
Jean Stallings When asked about her interest in poetry, Jean states " I know the love of poetry was embedded in me, but I did not know what to do with these thoughts, ideas or phrases until I saw a live poetry reading". Jean herself has also read and hosted local spoken word and poetry events in her North Carolina community. __________________________________ D. L. Martin Diane Martin, (D.L.) has been writing poetry for more than 30 years. The Between the World and Me collaboration with Jean Stallings and M. Emily represents the first time her collection is being published. Asked why she waited so long, D.L. indicated that "there have been so many other priorities in my life, that until now, I just haven't been able to find the time to make this happen." ______________________________________ Perspectives, represents Michele's first published work. For her, writing has always been a very personal exercise. She has stated that she doesn't always know how her work will be received, but that what the reader encounters reveals her own emotional state at any given time in her life. Michele prefers to write short stanzas or verses. "I like to express sentiment, pain, joy, and anger in short bursts." On the other hand, she says, Happy Daze" consist of multiple verses I loved, and could easily have added more to it." Michele hails from Brooklyn, New York. When she is not writing, she is actively involved in supporting literacy in her community and in raising her daughter. Michele continues to write and is expected to release a new anthology next year.
