Shakema S. Haygood (05-15-88) was born in Bronx, New York, to African American parents, grew up in Pleasantville, NJ, Yonkers, NY, Bronx, NY, and returned to Mount Vernon, NY in 2002. She started off writing poetry and wack songs when she was 11, then she stopped somewhere along the way. Her love for reading and inspiration from some of her favorite authors is what made her take that leap into writing again. She enjoys all genres, there is nothing that she wouldn't try.
