Poetic Therapy: Battle Wounds

Poetic Therapy: Battle Wounds

To know how I got where I am at this present moment, it is important for me that you know how I started the journey. I never had the real courage to talk about but I did find strength in writing about it. Thus, Poetic Therapy was born. Poetic Therapy: Battle Wounds is the first volume of poetry and writings that were born during the times when I needed a voice the most-- my painful times. Written across a span of a little over decade, these poems explore the most exposing part of any journey towards healing--the part where you're unashamedly honest with everything concerning your life that is not leading to a prosperous and whole life. There is a line of a poem that speaks to what this volume of poetry is. The famous poet and my personal favorite, Langston Hughes wrote in his poem, Mother to Son, "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. It's had tacks in it, and splinters, and boards torn up, and places with no carpet on the floor -- bare." This is my journey...at least the beginning.
